ABOUT THE TIARO REGION

RURAL PRODUCTS

Tiaro is a historic town on the Bruce Highway and North Coast railway line, with timber and farming forming the economic foundation since European settlement in the 1840s. The town takes its name from the original pastoral run established in the district.

The Mary River The mighty Mary River dominates the region, flowing through Tiaro on its 310km journey from the Conondale Range to the Great Sandy Strait. The river provides water security for agriculture while supporting endangered species including Mary River cod and the ancient Australian lungfish. The valley’s rich alluvial soils and reliable water make it highly productive agricultural land.

Strategic Location Tiaro is located 27km south of Maryborough and 227km north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway, providing excellent access to both northern and southern markets. The North Coast railway line also serves the town, facilitating transport of agricultural products.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Our commitment to quality and service sets us apart. We provide trusted solutions, expert advice, and durable products to support the needs of the rural and agricultural community.

Do you deliver to Tiaro and the Mary River Valley?

Yes, we make regular delivery runs throughout the Mary River Valley from Tiaro to Maryborough, Gympie, and all surrounding districts. Delivery costs are kept competitive through consolidated regional runs.

Absolutely critical. Tiaro’s flooding history (1893, 1955, 1974, 1992, 1999, 2013, 2022) demonstrates why galvanized steel is essential. The 1893 flood reached 21.95m at Tiaro—the highest ever recorded in the Mary River system. Timber yards deteriorate rapidly after flood exposure. Galvanized steel withstands inundation, can be cleaned, and continues performing for decades. In Mary River Valley flood zones, galvanized steel isn’t optional—it’s the only economically sensible choice.

Yes. We understand the specific needs of Mary River Valley mixed farming—cattle combined with timber properties, sugar cane, macadamia orchards, or specialty crops. Our yard designs can accommodate seasonal handling requirements and property layouts that integrate multiple enterprises.

Absolutely. We understand Mary River flooding patterns and can advise on optimal yard placement considering flood history, elevation, and property layout. Proper design minimizes flood impact while maintaining functionality.

Yes. We provide comprehensive yard design services optimized for your operation size, cattle numbers, handling frequency, and property conditions—including flood risk assessment and terrain considerations specific to Mary River Valley properties.

Absolutely. We commonly upgrade existing infrastructure with new gates, panels, crushes, or complete sections. Many Mary River properties have older timber yards damaged by floods or deterioration—we can phase upgrades to match your budget and schedule.
